Elk Closure

I’m sure all employees left at Elk Falls want to know how the closure effects them. We only learned of this decision by a phone call just before it went out on the newswire. We plan to meet with the company later this week to discuss details of the closure and will have more answers after that. I think we will use this blog to keep everyone as up to date with information as we can.
I am available as always on my cell phone 250-203-0258 don’t hesitate to call and I will answer your questions, if I can or get the answers if I can’t.
Truly a sad day for all of us and the community.

  1. Hi Guys, I was wondering if there is any word yet on the rate of pay arbitration.I suspect now Catalyst will pay all the remaining employees at base rate for their holidays. This has been awaiting a decision for some time now and amounts to lots of money for lots of people.

Want to wish everyone all the best
    Still waiting for the decision

  2. AAAA, SO, the knockout punch was delivered. I have mixed feelings, SAD that it had to happen this way. Feel bad for my fellow workmates left, who’s hopes were dashed. Community, can’t say that I felt supported by the citizens, but we will all pay in the end. Good feeling, now that all this bullshit has finally ended and people can now moved on to the next chapter. Good to finally pull the plug on this soap opera ” As Catalyst Turns” and all it’s misfit people in management. I can stand proud that our unions 1123 and 630 stood strong against all the bullying, they tried to do. I just HOPE the next local does the same when Catalyst starts coming down on them.
